Joint-School Teachers' Development Day 2026–2027: Fostering 21st Century Core Competencies and AI Application

Date: 28/10/2026

Pope Paul VI College proudly hosted the 2026–2027 Joint-School Teachers’ Development Day, welcoming educators from six partner schools: Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Siu Ming Catholic Secondary School, CNEC Christian College, Bishop Hall Jubilee School, Buddhist Sin Tak College, S.K.H. Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School, and Pope Paul VI College.

Centering on "Fostering 21st Century Core Competencies and AI Application," the event explored leveraging AI in education while preventing "cognitive outsourcing" and nurturing independent critical thinking.

The morning commenced with a warm welcome speech by our Principal, Mr. Genethew Ho. Keynote speaker Professor Cheng Kai-ming (Emeritus Professor, HKU) then shared insights on cultivating core literacies in the AI era, emphasizing that technology should stimulate deep student inquiry rather than replace active cognition.

During the subject sharing session, educators presented practical classroom AI integrations:

  • Humanities (Siu Ming Catholic): AI-assisted research, source analysis, and multi-perspective thinking.
  • Science (CNEC Christian): AI-driven data analysis, concept modeling, and inquiry-based learning.
  • English (Bishop Hall Jubilee): AI for personalized feedback and contextual language learning.

Pope Paul VI College extends its heartfelt gratitude to Professor Cheng Kai-ming for his inspiring guidance and to all participating schools for their collaborative spirit. The six schools look forward to continuing their close partnership to drive pedagogical innovation and prepare students for the future.
