Pope Paul VI College Students Shine at the 165th Anniversary Girls’ Education Seminar at Diocesan Girls’ School

Pope Paul VI College was honoured to participate in the “165th Anniversary Girls’ Education Seminar” hosted by Diocesan Girls’ School on 24 April 2026. Under the theme “Nurturing Virtues and Devotion to the Nation: A Century’s Legacy and Navigating the Future of Girls’ Education,” the seminar convened distinguished educators and students from leading institutions, fostering meaningful inter-school synergy and intellectual exchange.

The seminar commenced with an inspiring opening address by Ms. Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR, setting a reflective and aspirational tone for the afternoon.

This was followed by a high-level principals’ dialogue, expertly moderated by Professor John Lee, President of The Education University of Hong Kong. The panel featured Mr. Leung Yee Ho Genthew, Principal of Pope Paul VI College; Lee Yi Ying, Ms. Lee Yi Ying, Principal of Kowloon True Light School; and Mrs. Stella Lau, Headmistress of Diocesan Girls’ School. Their exchange offered profound pedagogical insights into the evolution and future trajectory of girls’ education.

The programme then transitioned to keynote sharings by two distinguished speakers: Ms. Nisa Leung, Managing Partner at Aulis Capital, Ms. Bernadette Tsui, Honorary Professor of Practice, HKU Faculty of Social Sciences. Drawing on their extensive professional experiences, they illuminated diverse pathways of female leadership and underscored the transformative power of education in shaping global citizens. Thoughtful responses by Mrs. Stella Lau further synthesised these perspectives, enriching the overall discourse.

Building on these expert insights, the seminar progressed to the student sharing segment, where representatives from Kowloon True Light School, Pope Paul VI College, and Diocesan Girls’ School presented their reflections.

Representing Pope Paul VI College, three student delegates delivered a compelling presentation entitled “Legacy of Heroines, Walking with the Times” (巾幗傳承與時代同行). They eloquently traced the College’s historical development, highlighted the distinctive ethos of girls’ education, and examined its alignment with Hong Kong’s evolving societal needs and global outlook. Their confident delivery and thoughtful analysis reflected both academic rigour and a deepened sense of belonging, leaving a profound impact on the audience.

The seminar concluded with a synthesis and closing remarks by Mrs. Stella Lau, followed by a presentation of souvenirs to guests and a group photo session, marking a meaningful end to an enriching afternoon.

Pope Paul VI College extends its heartfelt gratitude to Diocesan Girls’ School for the gracious invitation. This invaluable experience not only broadened our students’ horizons but also reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and forward-thinking young women who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
